The THERY robot, equipped with the THERY GO application, supports gait training without the need for assistive devices

Applications of THERY GO

THERY GO tracks patients’ or residents’ exercise activities, including distance walked, walking speed, and breaks, and provides general guidance on how to optimize movement via an audiovisual interface.

THERY GO can be used in various training-related everyday situations, such as to support walking exercises for people who rely on mobility aids like walking benches, canes, or walkers, as well as for patients who need a gradual return to exercise training due to internal medical conditions (e.g., after a myocardial infarction, in cases of obesity, COPD, or after a stroke).

Advantages:

  • Commitment through fixed appointments for self-training with the robot
  • Motivational feedback during self-training
  • Quick return on investment starting at just about 2 hours of robot training per day

How gait training works with THERY GO

Preparation from the perspective of facility staff

  • Creation of user accounts in the therapy management system and assignment of training plans, training times, and an RFID chip
  • Print out the training times for users (optional)
  • Handing the transponder and the printed training times to the users

Preparation from the user’s perspective

  • Reviewing the online tutorials before the start of training, including on the robot
  • Users do not require instruction on the robot from staff

Start of training

  • Log-in to the robot with an individual RFID chip before training
  • The robot recognizes the user based on a photo

Training process

  • User follows the robot during the training session
  • The robot adapts to the patient’s walking speed (up to 0.8 m/s)
  • Audio-visual feedback on distance covered and general motivation

End of training

  • The robot guides the user back to the starting position
  • The user receives a summary of the training results

After completion (optional)

  • Review of training results by facility staff
  • Download of training results and upload to the facility’s IT systems
